PRESS RELEASE

Test Sockets Return to WELLS-CTI

Vancouver, WA, April 18, 2011 - WELLS-CTI announces the introduction of its new Kelvin Test Socket Products. Configured for XSOP, QFP and QFN style packages. The products offer unique compression mount, cantilever contacts embedded in housings designed for applications such as ATE and Characterization.

The QFN version is a clamshell design and can accommodate LGA / QFN with various pad geometries or recessed pads. The contacts provide current carrying capacity of 7 amps per pin at room temperature. Cycle Counts have been demonstrated to exceed 100K with good electrical performance. Contacts are replaceable in the field to provide ease of maintenance and lower overall cost of ownership.

The XSOP / QFP design is available in configurations designed for ATE and for Characterization. Clip on lids are available to accommodate hand test and characterization applications. A unique cantilever contact design allows two fully independent contact points to each device lead. Contact scrub provides low contact resistance over the socket’s life. Current carrying capacity is 7 amps per pin at room temperature. Contacts are field replaceable providing lower overall cost of ownership.

“These Kelvin Sockets are often used in automotive IC applications and are ideal for low-level precision analog and high-current applications where it is necessary to de-embed the test socket and tester from the measurement,” said David Weston, Electrical Engineering Manager at WELLS-CTI.
